We are glad to announce the publication of our recent study about a new calibration method, called multi-energy ratios (MER). This study uses multi-signal calibration (MEC) approaches for the determination of non-metals via high-resolution continuum source graphite furnace molecular absorption spectrometry (HR CS GFMAS), in this case, bromine. A novel approach deriving from MEC, MER, is introduced and they were compared under different conditions. Situations where each strategy could benefit the determination of the analyte were evaluated. The calculation of limits of detection and quantification for both approaches is also discussed. We demonstrated that both methods circumvent chemical interferences, which very often hamper the determination of non-metals with HR CS GFMAS in a simple way, therefore making them a very interesting option when this technique is deployed.
